This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is Landon Rogers. Last spring, Rogers was the top singles player for the Cedar Ridge men’s tennis team. Rogers was a member of the 2022 Cedar Ridge team that won the Central Conference championship and became the first men’s team to host a 3A State Dual Team playoff match in Hillsborough. This season, Rogers defeated Person’s Luke Thomas 6-1, 6-1, in the Red Wolves first victory of the season on March 3. Cedar Ridge played some of the top teams in the state this spring, including Eno River Academy, which won the 1A Eastern Regional championship. Over the first two years of his career, Landon learned plenty of Josh Mayhew, who played for the 3A State singles championship four times. Rogers also played tenor saxophone in the Cedar Ridge marching band and jazz band, which had creative performances during football games last fall. In his sophomore season, Rogers was part of the tribute to the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things,” where he performed songs like Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” and Kate Bush’s “Running Up that Hill.” Last month, Rogers graduated from Cedar Ridge after being dually enrolled at Alamance Community College last spring. He plans to transfer to UNC-Chapel Hill after another year at ACC.
